Aubiose Animal Care: Our history, our values, our commitment
Behind every bag of Aubiose bedding lies a French agricultural cooperative, hundreds of farmers from the Grand Est region, and a deep conviction: hemp is one of the most useful and virtuous materials nature has to offer.
Our mission: Putting hemp at the service of animals
Aubiose Animal Care was born from a self-evident truth: the hemp we have been cultivating for over 50 years in the plains of Champagne is an exceptional raw material for animal bedding. Absorbent, natural, and biodegradable, it outperforms conventional litters on every front.
We first developed our products for horses, where standards are highest and respiratory health challenges are most critical. Today, Aubiose also supports rodents, poultry, and soon cats.
Our mission is simple: to offer products that care for your animals, made by people who care for the earth. From the field to your home, via our processing workshops in Saint-Lyé (Aube, France), everything is controlled, traceable, and designed for excellence.
An agricultural cooperative with sustainable values
La Chanvrière is not like other companies. Founded in 1973 in the Aube department, it is structured as an agricultural cooperative: its members are its own producers. Every farmer is both a supplier and a stakeholder. Decisions are collective, commitments shared, and profits reinvested back into the sector.
This cooperative model guarantees something rare in industry: continuity. The same families have been cultivating hemp for several generations across the same terroir. Quality is not just a marketing pitch; it is a tradition passed down from father to son, season after season.
Today, La Chanvrière is Europe’s leading industrial hemp processor. Its products—fibers, hurd, seeds, and oil—are distributed worldwide. Aubiose is its dedicated brand for animal welfare.
What has driven us for 50 years
Collective
At La Chanvrière, producers unite around a common mission. No competition among members: a sharing of commitments, responsibilities, and goals. Mutual trust is the foundation of everything we build.
Professionalism
Certified seeds, optimized cultivation techniques, state-of-the-art processing equipment: every link in our chain is managed by experts. Consistency and responsiveness are not options—they are our commitments to you.
Respect
Our hemp grows without pesticides, irrigation, or chemical inputs. Processing is 100% mechanical. Our CSR approach involves every producer and employee. Respectful of ecosystems, biodiversity, and every member.
Ambition
For 50 years, La Chanvrière has invested in research to develop new uses for hemp. Construction, food, cosmetics, animal welfare: we are opening new horizons with the agility of a human-scaled structure.
Eco-responsibility at the heart of every product
Growing hemp is already an environmental choice. But at Aubiose, we go further: every production and distribution decision is weighed through the lens of its impact.

Our team and our ambassadors
Aubiose is also made up of men and women who are passionate about the animal world, who use our products every day, and who share their honest feedback. Our ambassadors are equine professionals, dedicated pet owners, and discerning breeders.
They are not here to sell: they are here to share their hands-on experience and help you choose the bedding best suited for your animal.
